The JH Scholars’ Bowl teams opened up their season at a Minneapolis meet Thursday. Neither team placed in the top 3 of the 8 team competition, but they did get some wins and had fun learning from the experience! For many of them, this was their first ever scholars bowl meet.


If your SES 10th-12th grade student is taking Concurrent Credit from Salina Area Technical College you should have gotten a bill from them this week in the mail. Please look over the bill for accuracy before sending payment to SATC. More information is available in your student's email.

The girls close out their win and then the boys open with 27 in the first.

The annual VFW Grades 6-8 "Patriot's Pen" essay contest winners were announced recently. In this division, top placing students at the local level were SES 8th graders Brielle Felzien and Kinsley Dahl. Each year the theme changes, and this year's essay theme was “How Are You Inspired By America?” Brielle took first place and Kinsley took third place. They received cash prizes for their essays from VFW representatives alongside their certificates Tuesday night. Way to go!

Miss Shandi always shares her hand sanitizer with everyone in Mrs. Westhoff’s class. Today she surprised us by bringing every kid their own hand sanitizer and holder! We have AWESOME paras!!


Allison Moddelmog won a scholarship from the Kansas Masonic Foundation this week. The masons shared with her that it has been over 40 years since the last time anyone from the Salina Lodge has won! WOW!!
She wrote her scholarship essay on the prompt: If you were to start an organization or network to help foster interpersonal relationships and connectivity, what principles would you incorporate and why? Way to GO!!

Mrs. McBride’s kindergarten class is 100 days smarter! We celebrated with 100 snacks, writing 100 words, and we counted to 100 a lot of different ways. Happy 100 days of school!
