Chief Meteorologist Ross Janssen at KWCH Channel 12 came to see 1st grade today--with May! We learned about weather and what a meteorologist does. Our picture will be on the 5:00 news!


Mrs. Richardson’s 2nd graders sure enjoyed having some high school students from the Discovering Foods class come and present to us today!

This week, Lakewood came to 1st grade to show us skins and real Kansas animals. 1st graders also had to figure out the animals’ habitat. Thank you, Lakewood!

Mud Routes will continue for the remainder of this week. Regular start to school. The continued clouds and moisture have left some roads unsafe for bus travel. The mud route protocols used today will continue through Friday. We are all ready for some sunshine to dry up the roads.

SES Band Alumni Night will be held during the Friday, February 2nd basketball game. Band alumni are more than welcome to play with the high school pep band. Report time for this event is 6:30 pm in the band room. Please arrive earlier if you will need a school instrument.

Oh what fun Mrs. McBride's kindergarten kiddos had as they used character sticks to retell the beginning, middle, and end of the story The Mitten! It was so enlightening to hear such a vast variety of the vocabulary words from the story as well! What a great group of kids!






USD306 will start 2 hours late on Wednesday the 24th. Buses will be running mud routes.

The mini sparklers dance performance is rescheduled for this Thursday, January 25th. Kindergarten/1st grade will be performing halftime of the Girls Basketball game, start time 6:00pm and 2nd-6th performing halftime of the Boys Basketball game, start time 7:30pm. Girls will need to meet down stairs, (stairs beside the concession stand), to warmup and gather poms at the end of the first quarter. Thank you!

We had some buses get stuck this morning. Students on the buses were safe and warm while the district made alternate arraignments. Students were transferred to other school transportation and everyone is in school. Buses are all safely on campus. Thank you for your patience and understanding this morning as routes ran late.

Southeast of Saline will delay start of school by 2 hours for Tuesday the 23rd due to icing. There are slick spots, if you must be out please slow down and give extra room between vehicles. All buses will run 2 hours behind, reach out to your driver if your student will not be riding this morning.

Scholar's bowl competed in their Varsity and Junior Varsity League Championships today. The Varsity team won the League Championship with an undefeated record of 5-0. The Junior Varsity Team took 4th place with a record of 2-3. Congratulations to all competitors today:

3rd Graders had a great time learning about how Kansans lived in the 1860s. We churned butter, ground corn, packed a covered wagon and played pioneer games! Thank you to the Smoky Hill Museum for inviting us.
