The peak of flu season is upon us. To help keep our students and staff healthy, we ask that you please keep your child home if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

- Headache
- Vomiting (even once)

- Chills
- Muscle aches
- Extreme tiredness
- Sore throat/cough
Influenza is most contagious during the first 48 hours. According to school policy, a child who has a fever should remain at home until fever free WITHOUT medication for a MINIMUM of 24 hours. Often when a child awakens with vague complaints, it is wise to observe your child at home for an hour or two before deciding whether to send them to school. Your child should be physically able to participate in all school activities upon returning to school. Keeping sick kids at home will help minimize the spread in the classroom.

This Saturday, the KWU Men’s and Women’s basketball teams will be playing Evangel University at Mabee Arena. The women’s game tips off at 1:00 PM, followed by the men’s game at 3:00 PM.
It is also Southeast of Saline Night, so everyone from SES will receive free admission. We would love to see a great turnout, so please help spread the word.

Annika Barnaby was selected as the winner of the logo design competition for the Smoky Hill Education Foundation Golf Tournament. Annika's winning design will be showcased on tournament promotional materials, and players T-shirts. So proud of her!!

2026-2027 Kindergarten Roundup Pre-Registration
Afterschool Care is coming to Southeast of Saline. Salina YMCA is starting an after school care program that will be housed in the elementary cafeteria. See the attached flyer. Students will be able to walk from their classrooms to the program without leaving the building. There will be no transportation after the program so parents will need to pick up from the building by the time the program closes. This is not an SES program so all questions will need to be directed to the contacts on the flyer. Registration is now open with an anticipated start date of February 1.
This month, the elementary is discussing Empathy. Viewing things from someone else's perspective can be a difficult concept but such an important and powerful character trait!
We'd like to remind our parents and guardians that they can submit a new application for free & reduced lunches at anytime throughout the year, even if their students are currently receiving benefits.
