The following notice was published in the district official publication, Salina311. PUBLIC NOTICE Notice is hereby given pursuant to the provisions of K.S.A. 25-2022, of a vacancy in the membership of the Board of Education of Unified School District No. 306, Saline County, Kansas. This vacancy will be filled by appointment of the Board of Education not sooner than fifteen (15) days following publication of this notice. The appointed member will serve the remainder of the unexpired term in this position. Such vacancy exists by reason of the resignation of Steve Bartholmew. By order of the Board of Education, Unified School District No. 306, Saline County, Kansas. this 7th day of August, 2023. The following was printed in the Spotlight: Open School Board Position Steve Bartholomew stepped down as USD 306 school board member during the August 7th regular meeting. Steve has served as a board member for ten years and the district appreciates the many hours invested over the past decade. He has served on the negotiations team, the facilities committee, the reopening task force, as well as holding both the vice president and president positions on the board. In November there will be an election to choose who will represent our patrons on the board in four different races. USD 306 has three member districts representing our patrons. The board adjusted the dividing line recently to balance the population of these three member districts and that map is located on the school website. Each member district has two representatives whose terms are staggered so that every two years one of them comes up for election. The seventh position is at-large. Three incumbents: Jimmy Shelby; Charisee Nurnberg; and Justin Knopf, have registered to serve another term. Dwight Conley has chosen not to run for another term after having served for eight years on the board. His position had only one candidate register making all four positions uncontested this cycle. Those terms expire in January when a new four year term will begin. Steve’s position will not be on that ballot as the county has already submitted the ballots for this cycle. Mr. Bartholomew has another two years on his term. The board accepted the resignation and authorized the position to be posted for applications since it is not possible to get it on the ballot for this cycle. The board will accept applications through September 15 then conduct interviews and fill the position at the October board meeting. The chosen candidate will complete the remaining two years of the unexpired term. To be eligible for this position the candidate must reside in the member district of the opening. This district is the north section, commonly referred to as the Kipp district. This includes everything north of Farrelly Road with a smaller section north of Mentor Road. The detailed map is located on the district website, questions can be directed to the district office. There will be an informational meeting to outline the duties and responsibilities of a school board member to be scheduled in September. The application to be considered by the board to fill the unexpired portion of Mr. Bartholomew’s position can be found on the district website or by contacting the district office. Please contact the district office if you have any questions.

Greeting Parents. School is concluding another successful week and we have outlasted the extreme heat. Hopefully we are done with the triple digits until next year. If you have not downloaded the powerschool app please go to our website and follow the instructions located under the Parents/Patrons tab. The app is different than the parentportal. The app allows you to check on grades, check on attendance, and check on fees/meal balances. You can also sign up to get notifications on your phone. Southeast of Saline serves both lunch and breakfast. Please discuss your expectations for eating breakfast with your student. If you have a secondary student please also discuss your expectation for purchasing "extras" at lunch. These charges can be surprising if you are not on the same page with your child. If a child is on free or reduced for lunch then it also applies to breakfast. It does not apply to "extras" though so it is possible to run up meal balances even if your lunches are free. Next week starts a full slate of activities with HS and JH sports starting their seasons. The first play of the year is already in production. We hope to see you on campus for our programs, it is going to be a great year to be a Trojan.

Are you enrolled in Medicaid or CHIP? During the pandemic benefits were automatically renewed, but now States have started sending eligibility renewal letters that must be returned! More than half – 57 percent – of those who are estimated to lose coverage yet remain eligible for Medicaid during the continuous coverage will be children. Out of every 4 children that lose coverage, 3 will remain eligible but fail to renew. To stay covered, you must: 🧭 Update your contact info 📮Check your mail ✍️Fill out and return your form If you lose coverage, immediately contact a navigator or enrollment assister to see if you can re-enroll in Medicaid or to check if you qualify for subsidized coverage through the ACA Marketplace. For more, visit Medicaid.gov and HealthCare.gov (1.800.318.2596) or http://kancare.ks.gov.

During enrollment Powerschool had updated while it was live and removed some of the option tabs when completing the "Checking/Savings Account Authorization '' form 7b. If you choose to use the automatic withdrawal platform, we are asking parents to resubmit that form in Powerschool. Auto drafts will not start until September 1st. If you were on recurring payments last school year using the Ezschoolpay website but would like to use our ACH withdrawal, you must stop the recurring payments with Ezschoolpay. This will eliminate double withdrawals from your bank accounts. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to Kristy Foster at kfoster@usd306.org
