Athlete of the Month

Avery Tripp has been selected as the SES Athlete of the Month for October. Avery is a freshman and the daughter of Wade and Tracie Tripp. Her favorite thing about SES is all of the opportunities that they have including the variety of clubs and activities. She also really appreciates the teachers and staff because they make school enjoyable and create a positive environment. Her greatest achievement is running a 20:22 5K at her last cross country meet that ranks her #2 for freshmen in 3A in Kansas and #13 for all grades in 3A. She is also proud that her cross country team is ranked #2 in class 3A. Aside from cross country, she is involved in basketball and track. She enjoys being part of a team, challenging herself and continuing to improve. Her nominator wrote "Avery is an outstanding student and extremely hard worker. She's kind to all of her classmates and a great leader." In the future, she plans to attend college and earn a bachelor's degree. She is interested in the medical field, possibly as an X-ray technician or exploring a career in construction management. She is considering schools like K-State, KU and Iowa. Her advice to others is "trying new things can be scary, but you might find something you really enjoy and are good at. I was nervous about joining cross country at first, but it has become a sport I love. Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Don't be afraid to try new things, you might surprise yourself!"
