Suzu Kimizuka has been selected as our Student of the Month for Southeast of Saline High School in January. Suzu is a senior foreign exchange student from Japan. Her host mother is Allison Lecklider and her parents are Nanako and Ken Kimizuka. Her favorite thing about SES is the people! All of her teachers are so kinds and helpful nd the students are so nice. Especially in her first week at SES, she didn't know anything about the school. There were many teachers and students that talked to her and helped her a lot, for which she was very thankful. Also, the school is so flexible that she can gain opportunities to interact with various ages of students and share her culture of her home country. Her nominator stated that "I have been so impressed by her work ethic, kindness, and her willingness to jump into all of the opportunities possible." Her greatest achievement is that she is recording her volunteering hours for her exchange program and she has achieved 119 hours in total so far. During International Education week in November, she made nine presentations and held "Japan Trivia" in both the elementary and secondary libraries to share her culture and history with the students at SES. At SES, she has been involved in the fall and winter play, cheerleading, publications and has joined choir for the second semester. In the future, she is planning to go to college in Tokyo, Japan. Since is is not easy to pass entrance exams of colleges, she is not certain what college she will be attending yet. Congratulations Suzu!
